The holiday season makes us feel many different emotions. We watch Christmas movies and wonder if we have such A Wonderful Life or need a Miracle on 34th Street. We love our traditions or grieve the customs that have died along with those that we love. In the last few years, David and I no longer watch more that ten minutes of news a day. Statistics show that our mental health suffers greatly by saturating our minds with the news. Our minds are not meant to handle constant cycles of the depravity of what other human beings do to one other for the sake of hate, greed and selfishness.

If Christmas is just a holiday- another reason to take a day off work, eat a meal and buy a gift, what hope do we have? We are standing on a planet that spins on a axis that feels completely out of control. What if you dare to believe that the Creator of the Earth, every star, planet, and galaxy, also planned and created you? In His grand design, He loved you enough to send His only son to be born, and to die, and rise from the dead, so that if you believe in Him, you can have hope and eternal life. John 3:16 promises us this, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whomever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life.

Long before Jesus was born, His coming was told in Isaiah 9:6, For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

This Christmas, we pray that you have a life changing encounter with this Counselor, this Mighty God, this Everlasting Father, and this Prince of Peace. His peace can be internal when the external world is filled with chaos.

Merry Christmas from all of us at Desert Streams Ministry
