Runaway train blog

Imagine a runaway train, like you see in a super action movie. Imagine it is full of nuclear weapons and it’s heading for a heavily populated area. If it arrives as planned by the evil, bad guys, millions of people will die, cities will be destroyed, and the impact will be felt worldwide and talked about for many years to come. Now, like any good action movie, imagine there is a good guy, a hero, that is willing to lose his own life for the sake of saving millions of people who may not even know the danger that is barreling towards them. Imagine our hero stopping the train and losing his life. Imagine his family grieving the loss while deeply and forever loving the sacrifice that their loved and one made to save so many.

Now, imagine all those people that were spared and saved not offering gratitude, but hatred. Imagine those people making fun of the guy, diminishing his sacrifice and stopping any celebration of the enormous debt he has paid that he didn’t have to. Can you imagine such a crazy thing? Can you imagine mocking the hero?

Welcome to modern day Christianity folks. We are living in a society that is spinning out of control. 1 Peter 5:8 reminds us, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” There is a runaway train heading right towards us. It is full of hate and evil and wants to take your soul to a literal and eternal hell. Our hero, Jesus Christ, did what he didn’t have to do, but did because of His great love for mankind. He came to earth, born as a baby in a manger, and died an agonizing death on Calvary’s cross for you and for me. It seems to me that we would be a grateful people, but this world continues to increasingly mock the hero; the Savior of the world.

I felt prompted to write this blog because of the increasing hostility towards my brothers and sisters in Christ. We are standing for what God’s word says is truth. It’s not our opinions or thoughts. The issues we stand for are what the Bible tells us we must stand for. We are to tell the truth, with grace and love, just as Jesus did on this earth. When people make fun of my beliefs in the word of God or make jokes about Jesus, I feel like the family members that lost their hero did. It grieves my heart and makes me righteously angry and increasingly shocked.

I love all people. (It’s not because all people are easy to love, by the way.) It’s because God loves people enough to send his only son to die a horrible death and rise again to offer salvation to all people. I want people to know that I will defend my faith and my Hero, with God’s help, until my last breath. He gave His last breath for me. Isn’t that the least I can do?

This is a timely and accurate analysis of what is happening in our world today. My heart is saddened and angered over the denial of who Christ is and the sacrifice He made. May God bless America!
