This morning I am sitting in my office with the full intention of getting a lot of things accomplished before Thanksgiving is here. With my laptop in front of me and my Bible beside me, I realized things were out of order. I pushed my laptop back and started to worship. I closed my eyes and felt overwhelmed with gratitude for all the things that God is and has blessed me with. I opened the word of God and read Psalms 100:
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
This does not say praise Him with conditions. It means, He is worthy of praise, even in the midst of terrorist attacks, media frenzies, and all the awful things going on in this world today. He is unchanged. I am His child. He is my God and He is still on the throne. I decided to, “Enter His gates with thanksgiving”. I sat at my desk and looked at the empty dry erase board in front of me. I cranked up the praise music and started listing the first things that came to my mind that I am thankful for. In a matter of 10 minutes, it was full and so was I.
In a really bad world, we serve a really awesome, powerful, redeeming, merciful, righteous, just and holy God. He is coming back for His church and this woman is excited, thankful and feeling like my eyes are back where they belong- Jesus. Praise Him today, in spite of what is going on around you. He truly is good.
